What does it mean to be not just in the natural world, but of it?

In this contemplative workshop, we will explore our deep belonging to nature through the surprising roots of ordinary words, the astonishing journey of the molecules we carry, and the quiet wisdom of our own mortality. Through readings, reflection, journaling, and an impactful walking ritual on the land at Stillpoint, we will move together toward a more honest and intimate relationship with death. In doing so, we may discover a more embodied and joyful relationship with life. Let’s walk slowly and listen deeply.

Come as you are. The Mother Tree is waiting.

Facilitator:

Brian Flowers has spent nearly two decades walking alongside people at the threshold. He has made a career as a cemetery manager, funeral director, and now as the founder of Wildflower Funeral Concepts in Ferndale. He has come to understand that our estrangement from mortality and our estrangement from nature are the same wound, and healing one begins to heal the other. He also moonlights as a professional performing storyteller, which, it turns out, is not so different from the work of accompanying cycles of life and death.
